The blessing

Ephesus, view from the Marble Road Photo by Radomil 21:31, 30 November 2005

Good morning, beloved,

I have allowed the cares of this world to overwhelm me. I have been working on my own strength so much of the time. Last night, it finally dawned on me. Oh, how I hate that I have been suffocating under the weights of this world. I have this image in my mind this morning of swimming under water and waiting to come up for air until the last second. As I burst forth from the water, I breath in deeply and quickly. This morning, I am breathing deeply. I begin my day with thanksgiving.

281. I’m so thankful for Daniel, so thankful he talks to me, asks me to play games, still asks for hugs, still.

282. I’m thankful for football for Noah. He is coming alive with the discipline.

283. I’m thankful for Luke and his amazing ability to make people laugh. Me too.

284. I’m thankful for Ella, how she cares for her two dolls, brushing their hair, listening to books, peacemaker.

As I try to take apart each care and concern, I am vastly aware of my inadequacies to stand alone.  We were never meant to walk alone. It’s interesting. I didn’t even realize it until I looked back with the Lord at the telltale signs. Frustration mounts. Anger. You know what? I’m tired of these responses. I feel like my kids when they tell me that an undesirable action will never happen again. I want perfection in me! Lies, lies, lies.

17 If the Lord had not helped me,
I would have ·died in a minute [L quickly dwelled in silence].
18 I said, “·I am about to fall [L My feet totter],”
but, Lord, your ·love [loyalty] ·kept me safe [steadied/supported me].
19 ·I was very worried [L In my many disquieting thoughts in my insides],
but you comforted me and ·made me happy [cheered me up]. Psalm 94 EXB

The loyalty of His love, His comfort, His help…only can God love me like that, always. If not? I would have quickly dwelled in silence.

16 I ·have not stopped [never cease] giving thanks to God for you. I always remember you in my prayers, 17 asking the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, to give you ·a spirit of wisdom[or spiritual wisdom; or the Spirit of wisdom] and revelation so that you will know him better. 18 I pray also that ·you will have greater understanding in your heart [L the eyes of your heart may be enlightened] so you will ·know [comprehend] the hope to which he has called us and that you will know ·how rich and glorious are the blessings God has promised [the riches of his glorious inheritance for; or the glorious wealth of an inheritance that God possesses in] ·his holy people [T the saints].19 And you will know that God’s power is ·very [exceedingly; overwhelmingly] great for us who believe. That power ·is the same as [or was demonstrated in] the great strength. Ephesians 1 EXB

I ·have not stopped [never cease] giving thanks to God for you. I always remember you in my prayers…

I wonder if the Ephesians ever frustrated Paul. Did he ever feel like banging his head against a wall? It’s hard to bang your head against a wall while giving thanks. It is hard to stay frustrated when in your prayers you are always praying. The ones who give you grief? Pray.  The ones who just get you? Pray. Give thanks. Give thanks for God’s plan in our lives. Plan that includes people. Just sayin’.

…asking the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, to give you ·a spirit of wisdom[or spiritual wisdom; or the Spirit of wisdom] and revelation so that you will know him better.

The Lord Jesus Christ is our access to God. He is our glorious Father. To those who have father wounds, He is your glorious Father. To those who don’t think God could ever forgive them or love them, the Lord Jesus Christ made a way. To those who have lost their way, to those who need to come up for air, there is a way.  A way back home.

Paul cries out to the Lord praying that we would be given a spirit of wisdom. We are wise about spiritual, not in our own strength, but only through the gift of the Holy Spirit. I cannot look at my life and pretend to understand all He is doing. My attempts at understanding, my cries for help so often come from a very focused look at my circumstances.

Jesus Calling Trust

That, my friends, is wisdom talking. Our view of our life, our trials, our worries, even our joys must be filtered through the lens of trusting Him.

I pray also that ·you will have greater understanding in your heart [L the eyes of your heart may be enlightened] so you will ·know [comprehend] the hope to which he has called us…

Lord, I have cried out for understanding. I have cried out for wisdom. Save us, Lord! Rather, I wonder if my prayer needs to switch. Lord, help me to understand, to comprehend the hope! Understand in greater detail the hope

(7) Eph 1:18, “the hope of His (God’s) calling,” i.e., the prospect before those who respond to His call in the Gospel; Greek Lexicon blb.org

Have you responded to His call? His call found in Jesus?

…that you will know ·how rich and glorious are the blessings God has promised [the riches of his glorious inheritance for; or the glorious wealth of an inheritance that God possesses in] ·his holy people [T the saints].

His blessings..rich and glorious..our inheritance…does it ever seem like those blessings seem too far away? They are not. They are so close, they are a breath away. And we cannot even imagine it all, it is too great a mystery. So, in the midst of the strain, in the midst of the concern, what if our focus trains on the cry to know, to understand deep in our hearts the blessing.

And you will know that God’s power is ·very [exceedingly; overwhelmingly] great for us who believe. That power ·is the same as [or was demonstrated in] the great strength…

Lord, I want to know God’s power. Your exceedingly, overwhelmingly will is very great. You can handle all that concerns me today. You can overcome my weakness. To trust in You, to find my hope in You, I cling to You.

Ephesus, theater Photo by Rita1234

Life is a breath. Looking at these pictures of the ruins of Ephesus reminds me. Today is a gift. It was what I have been given. I dedicate this day to You.

Pray on. Pray on.

Catalan: Tower Mir (Prats de Mollo and Pay) by Jordiipa

Good morning, beloved,

I woke up this morning to a clean first floor. My Noah cleaned his zone and kitchen. Wow, what a blessing! We decided to go to see Steven Curtis Chapman last night at Willow Creek. He kept saying he was feeling flustered by a bunch of mistakes…he thought the service started an hour later, a guitar string broke during the first song…yet as the night wore on, the blessing was two fold, I hope. He began to get teary as he spoke of his daughter who died, as we gave him a standing ovation in the middle of the concert…he was very real. His heart’s cry was that we would encounter the Living God. I can’t speak for the rest of the audience, but it was so good to be worshiping the Risen Lord last night! As the kids became fidgety, I put Daniel on my lap and held my hands over Luke and Ella…and they were peaceful. All of our family was touched and our conversation last night in the car ride home, was, well, holy. We scraped together 10 bucks and bought his greatest hits. I sat in the back seat to hand out food and was able to talk with my girl.  Joshua was very touched by a few songs..i.e., Cinderella and I Will Be Here. Our family is chatting this morning as I type and it’s good to hear.

Now, today we go and worship with our church. Will you?

I sure hope so. The local church needs you.

Pray on, pray on.

Context, people, context!

Village of Red Monastery. by Ing. Mgr. Jozef Kotulič

Good morning, beloved,

Perspective is such a valuable commodity. The morning started off with such peace and “happyness”,  it was amazing to have it fall apart. I could point fingers and say it was him, or him, or him,  or him, or her, but that would be allowing my sinful spirit to flourish. Joshua and I were meeting and I suggested, “let’s go do something!” to which he replied, “Noah has a boot on his leg, Ella is using a walker and it is 95 degrees out…good luck.” From then on during that day, I felt like a caged Starburst. (my dog..) I could not get my mind off the lack of things to do and began to feel sorry for myself. Oh, good grief, even saying it out loud makes me frustrated. When will I habitually stop, turn on the music, read the verses plastered all over my house and declare a victory for the Spirit living inside of me?

“The entrance and unfolding of Your words give light; their unfolding gives understanding (discernment and comprehension) to the simple.” Psalm 119:130AMP

God will provide. God will give us all we need. God is trustworthy. Always. I proclaim victory over my fear and doubt. It can be no other way.

Come Thou Fount:

Come thou fount of every blessing
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace
Streams of mercy never ceasing
Call for songs of loudest praise
Teach me some melodious sonnet
Sung by flaming tongues above
I’ll praise the mount I’m fixed upon it
Mount of Thy redeeming love

Here I raise my Ebenezer
Hither by Thy help I come
And I hope by Thy good pleasure
Safely to arrive at home
Jesus sought me when a stranger
Wondering from the fold of God
He, to rescue me from danger
Interposed His precious blood

O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I’m constrained to be!
Let thy goodness like a fetter
Bind my wandering heart to Thee
Prone to wander Lord I feel it
Prone to leave the God I love
Here’s my heart Lord, take and seal it
Seal it for Thy courts above

I’m just not going to allow fear to rule my heart. I praise you Lord! Peace.

Let’s turn our hearts to Jesus and His Word.

Matthew 7 :

Do not judge and criticize and condemn others, so that you may not be judged and criticized and condemned yourselves.

For just as you judge and criticize and condemn others, you will be judged and criticizedand condemned, and in accordance with the measure you [use to] deal out to others, it will be dealt out again to you.

Why do you stare from without at the very small particle that is in your brother’s eye but do not become aware of and consider the beam of timber that is in your own eye?

Or how can you say to your brother, Let me get the tiny particle out of your eye, when there is the beam of timber in your own eye?

You hypocrite, first get the beam of timber out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the tiny particle out of your brother’s eye.

Do not give that which is holy (the sacred thing) to the dogs, and do not throw your pearls before hogs, lest they trample upon them with their feet and turn and tear you in pieces.

Keep on asking and it will be given you; keep on seeking and you will find; keep on knocking [reverently] and [the door] will be opened to you.

For everyone who keeps on asking receives; and he who keeps on seeking finds; and to him who keeps on knocking, [the door] will be opened.

Or what man is there of you, if his son asks him for a loaf of bread, will hand him a stone?

10 Or if he asks for a fish, will hand him a serpent?

11 If you then, evil as you are, know how to give good and advantageous gifts to your children, how much more will your Father Who is in heaven [perfect as He is] give good andadvantageous things to those who keep on asking Him!

12 So then, whatever you desire that others would do to and for you, even so do also to andfor them, for this is (sums up) the Law and the Prophets.

What I pull out today, what blesses my socks off and I shall eat this today: 11 If you then, evil as you are, know how to give good and advantageous gifts to your children, how much more will your Father Who is in heaven [perfect as He is] give good andadvantageous things to those who keep on asking Him!

My God shall provide for all my needs. Your needs. God is perfect. He gives good gifts to those who keep on asking! Lord we are asking. We are putting our hope in You. I know You will not give us stones, you have eternal life. As Peter said,

John 6:

66 After this, many of His disciples drew back (returned to their old associations) and no longer accompanied Him.

67 Jesus said to the Twelve, Will you also go away? [And do you too desire to leave Me?]

68 Simon Peter answered, Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words (the message) of eternal life.

69 And we have learned to believe and trust, and [more] we have come to know [surely] that You are the Holy One of God, the Christ (the Anointed One), the Son of the living God.

He is our only hope!

Pray on, beloved. Pray on.

The next chapter: giving

“This NASA Hubble Space Telescope image of the Antennae galaxies (NGC 4038 & 4039) is the sharpest yet of this merging pair of galaxies. During the course of the collision, billions of stars will be formed. The brightest and most compact of these star birth regions are called super star clusters.”
“ The two spiral galaxies started to interact a few hundred million years ago, making the Antennae galaxies one of the nearest and youngest examples of a pair of colliding galaxies. Nearly half of the faint objects in the Antennae image are young clusters containing tens of thousands of stars. The orange blobs to the left and right of image center are the two cores of the original galaxies and consist mainly of old stars criss-crossed by filaments of dust, which appear brown in the image. The two galaxies are dotted with brilliant blue star-forming regions surrounded by glowing hydrogen gas, appearing in the image in pink.” by NASA, ESA, and the Hubble Heritage Team (STScI/AURA)-ESA/Hubble Collaboration

Greetings, beloved of God,

So good to be in the Word, I’m a little late today. Forgive me. :) My Mom and I were working hard at the garden this morning before the humidity hit. It was a good time to go. Noah is recovering nicely from his surgery. He was able to sleep through the night without difficulty and woke up raring to go. I believe his biggest complaint presently would be restlessness. Pain is being managed well..

I’m excited to get into our Bible today. I’m praying for the Lord’s wisdom to handle the Scriptures well and guide you. I love using Precepts to guide and direct my study. Here we go! Red: do not, Green: do

Matthew 6: Take care not to do your good deeds publicly or before men, in order to be seen by them; otherwise you will have no reward [[a]reserved for and awaiting you] with and from your Father Who is in heaven.

2 Thus, whenever you give to the poor, do not blow a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites in the synagogues and in the streets like to do, that they may be [b]recognized and honored and praised by men. Truly I tell you, they have their reward [c]in full already.

3 But when you give to charity, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,

4 So that your deeds of charity may be in secret; and your Father Who sees in secret will reward you openly.

5 Also when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by people. Truly I tell you, they have their reward [d]in full already.

6 But when you pray, go into your [most] private room, and, closing the door, pray to your Father, Who is in secret; and your Father, Who sees in secret, will reward you in the open.

7 And when you pray, do not heap up phrases (multiply words, repeating the same ones over and over) as the Gentiles do, for they think they will be heard for their much speaking.

8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.

9 Pray, therefore, like this: Our Father Who is in heaven, hallowed (kept holy) be Your name.

10 Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven ([e]left, remitted, and let go of the debts, and have [f]given up resentment against) our debtors.

13 And lead (bring) us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

14 For if you forgive people their trespasses [their [g]reckless and willful sins, [h]leaving them, letting them go, and [i]giving up resentment], your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

15 But if you do not forgive others their trespasses [their [j]reckless and willful sins,[k]leaving them, letting them go, and [l]giving up resentment], neither will your Father forgive you your trespasses.

16 And whenever you are fasting, do not look gloomy and [m]sour and [n]dreary like the hypocrites, for they put on a dismal countenance, that their fasting may be apparent to and seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward [o]in full already.

17 But when you fast, perfume your head and wash your face,

18 So that your fasting may not be noticed by men but by your Father, Who sees in secret; and your Father, Who sees in secret, will reward you in the open.

So main topics here:

  1. Give
  2. Pray (the Lord’s prayer taught..)
  3. Forgive
  4. Fast

Results if seen by men: You have received your reward in full.

Results if seen by God alone: You will receive your reward from the Father. You will be forgiven.

Principles laid down for giving:

  1. Give to the poor (not if, but when..)
  2. Give in secret.
  3. our Father in heaven who sees what is done in secret will reward you.

Let us look at some corresponding verses on giving.

Acts 2:

44 And all who believed (who adhered to and trusted in and relied on Jesus Christ) were united and [together] they had everything in common;

45 And they sold their possessions (both their landed property and their movable goods) and distributed the price among all, according as any had need.

So to add to the principles learning, the early Churchgave, help and as the Greek further helps us:1) to cleave asunder, cut in pieces

2) to be divided into opposing parts, to be at variance, in dissension

3) to distribute

Acts 4:

32 Now the company of believers was of one heart and soul, and not one of them claimed that anything which he possessed was [exclusively] his own, but everything they had was in common and for the use of all.

33 And with great strength and ability and power the apostles delivered their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace (loving-kindness and favor and goodwill) rested richly upon them all.

34 Nor was there a destitute or needy person among them, for as many as were owners of lands or houses proceeded to sell them, and one by one they brought (gave back) the amount received from the sales

35 And laid it at the feet of the apostles (special messengers). Then distribution was made according as anyone had need.

  • The company of believers: their possessions were not their own, all in common and use for all
  • Great grace rested richly upon them all
  • No needy people, b/c they would sell property and bring proceeds
  • Distribution was as people had need

Philippians 4:  (Giving in green..)

And you Philippians yourselves well know that in the early days of the Gospel ministry, when I left Macedonia, no church (assembly) entered into partnership with me and opened up [a debit and credit] account in giving and receiving except you only.

16 For even in Thessalonica you sent [me contributions] for my needs, not only once but a second time.

17 Not that I seek or am eager for [your] gift, but I do seekand am eager for the fruit which increases to your credit [the harvest of blessing that is accumulating to your account].

18 But I have [your full payment] and more; I have everything I need and am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent me. [They are the] fragrant odor of an offering and sacrifice which God welcomes and in which He delights.

19 And my God will liberally supply ([i]fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

  • No church except Philippians gave to Paul.
  • They sent gifts to him 2x in Thessalonica.
  • Paul was eager for the fruit of the harvest of BLESSING accumulating to them.
  • God welcomes and delights in the offering and sacrifice of the gifts of the Philippians.
  • God will supply all needs. ALL needs.

There is such great blessing found in the gift, isn’t there? I believe with all my heart the gift helps us so much to take our eyes off our own circumstances. I believe it because I’ve seen it in action. When we are taken with how can we help our church, the poor, the needy, when we are in the Word, when we are singing songs and encouraging one another and giving thanks what time do we have to spend on our own angst and worry?

We just need to keep focused on the Lord. Pray on beloved. Pray on.

Dead Sea, Israel, En Boqeq by xta11

Good morning, beloved!

This is one of the few mornings where I sit ready to start typing away and my brain and the typing are not matching up.  Don’t give up on me yet, yesterday was a doctor day for Joshua. We walked away with one x-ray, med refills, adjustments to his foot inserts and a diagnosis, hopefully, for his fingers. Noah was also scheduled for his surgery at the end of the month. God, tho, is teaching me to walk in the moment. What do I mean? I can only do what is in front of me. God takes a step and I prayerfully follow in His steps. (not perfectly) So after a lovely lunch date with my hubby, we came home to some happy children ready for the movie Brave.

So gaze upon the truth of God’s Word. Let’s grab God’s hand and ask Him to show us , teach us and lead us. Let’s begin with Matthew 5:13

You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste (its strength, its quality), how can its saltness be restored? It is not good for anything any longer but to be thrown out and trodden underfoot by men.

Jesus talked about Christians as salt two other times in the NT. This is a metaphor (remember high school?) A figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable.

Salt covered stones at Dead Sea by xta11

Luke 14:

34 Salt is good [an excellent thing], but if salt has lost its strength and has become saltless (insipid, flat), how shall its saltness be restored?

35 It is fit neither for the land nor for the manure heap; men throw it away. He who has ears to hear, let him listen and consider and comprehend by hearing!

Salt covered stones at Dead Sea by xta11

Mark 9

49 For everyone shall be salted with fire.

50 Salt is good (beneficial), but if salt has lost its saltness, how will you restore [the saltness to] it? Have salt within yourselves, and be at peace and live in harmony with one another.

Salt is an excellent thing.

We are the salt of the earth. Have salt within yourselves. Be at peace. Live in harmony.

Yet if salt loses its saltness…not good for anything. Cannot be restored. Not for land. Not for the manure heap. Throw it away.

What is Jesus talking about? Let’s look at some information on salt.

Salt-halas

1) salt with which food is seasoned and sacrifices are sprinkled

2) those kinds of saline matter used to fertilise arable land

3) salt is a symbol of lasting concord, because it protects food from putrefaction and preserves it unchanged. Accordingly, in the solemn ratification of compacts, the orientals were, and are to this day, accustomed to partake of salt together

4) wisdom and grace exhibited in speech

In my encyclopedia searches, finding good references for the information I’ve spent a little more time, ahem, then I should. So, I need to sign off for the moment. I’m going to come back lata. ;)

Two-wheel freedom…

Pierre-Victor Galland (1822-1892) Forest Clearing at Night Oil on board – 28 x 36,5 cm Beauvais, Musée départemental de l’Oise by Pierre-Victor Galland

Good morning, beloved,

Well, it’s official. My parents now have all of their grandchildren riding two-wheel bikes. My niece and nephew had just figured it out on Monday after our crazy day. So yesterday, I was bound and determined to get our princess out on her bike. Ella, however, wasn’t having it. Fear had blinded her to the freedom that lay right in her grasp. So her were all of her siblings and cousins racing around her yelling out encouragement and pleading with her to try. She was walking on her bike, saying no way.

Then her eldest, Noah, came out, held the bike steady. She got a little weepy. Her cousin ran into her. Spacial awareness..we’re working on  it.  Then suddenly the light went on and she started pedaling and took off.  She was so excited. So thrilled. The blinders came off and her freedom came rushing in. All of a sudden, what had been chains before to Ella were gone!

Then, I couldn’t get the children off the bikes! Once, are you with me here? you taste freedom are you going to go back to the training wheels? Are you going to go back to the walking around? They were so tired by last night. I think, tho, I was more tired. Yet, as I reflected with Ella’s daddy..;)..what was even more to me, the delight. The absolute delight. Makes me teary just thinking about it. Everyone on the block must have known because Ella was shouting it from the hilltops! :)

Romans 6

20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness.

21 But then what benefit (return) did you get from the things of which you are now ashamed? [None] for the end of those things is death.

22 But now since you have been set free from sin and have become the slaves of God, you have your present reward in holiness and its end is eternal life.

23 For the wages which sin pays is death, but the [bountiful] free gift of God is eternal life through (in union with) Jesus Christ our Lord.

VBS’ verse of the day ties so well with the lessons the Lord is teaching me in life this week. God is always in a process of teaching me to trust and rely on Him. Just as Ella couldn’t see what I could see with the bike. She couldn’t see the freedom the bike held for her if she could just get past her fear…God longs for us to trust Him with all the stuff of our life, He has freedom just within our grasp too. Look in those verses at how many times free is repeated. It was most certainly not free to God or His Son, was it?

I listened last night as I was falling asleep to a dear woman on Focus on the Family‘s podcast…if you get the chance, you will be amazed. Replacing Panic with God’s Peace

Don’t go back to  sin, not trusting, of fear, of whatever that sin pattern is for you…get on your bike and ride with freedom. Just like Ella. My chains are gone! Jesus has set me free!

Pray on. Pray on.

Pit No. 3 of the Mining Company of Escarpelle was a colliery consists of a single well located in Flers-en-Escrebieux (Pont-de-la-Deûle), North, Nord-Pas de Calais, France. by JÄNNICK Jérémy

Good morning, beloved of God,

A new morning, a new coffee cup (my kids gift to me), it’s a good morning. :) I love my new coffee cup. Painted rocks from Luke. A handwritten card from Noah. A robot card from Danny. A painted card from Ella…priceless….An afternoon spent on the river watching children fish…reading my book..

Almost Amish another thought-provoking book…

Let’s dive back into Matthew 7..

We are, today, looking for instructions from Jesus…so let’s begin:

1Do not judge and criticize and condemn others,

12 So then, whatever you desire that others would do to and for you, even so do also to andfor them, for this is (sums up) the Law and the Prophets.

13 Enter through the narrow gate;

15 Beware of false prophets, who come to you dressed as sheep, but inside they are devouring wolves.

20 Therefore, you will fully know them by their fruits.

As we were talking about these verses, here are some things I found..any additions in your mind?

  1. Jesus has specific instructions on how to live with one another:
  • do not judge, criticize, condemn others
  • Do not give that which is holy (the sacred thing) to the dogs, and do not throw your pearls before hogs, lest they trample upon them with their feet and turn and tear you in pieces.
  • whatever you desire that others would do to and for you, even so  do to and or them : This is the Law and the Prophets
  • beware of false prophets, know them by their fruits.
       2. Jesus has instructions on how to live before God:
  •  Keep on asking and it will be given you; keep on seeking and you will find; keep on knocking [reverently] and [the door] will be opened to you.
  •  For everyone who keeps on asking receives; and he who keeps on seeking finds; and to him who keeps on knocking, [the door] will be opened.
Now, verses 21-27 are some very famous verses…

21 Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father Who is in heaven.

22 Many will say to Me on that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name and driven out demons in Your name and done many mighty works in Your name?

23 And then I will say to them openly (publicly), I never knew you; depart from Me, you who act wickedly [disregarding My commands].

24 So everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts upon them [obeying them] will be like a [p]sensible (prudent, practical, wise) man who built his house upon the rock.

25 And the rain fell and the floods came and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.

26 And everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not do them will be like a stupid (foolish) man who built his house upon the sand.

27 And the rain fell and the floods came and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell—and great and complete was the fall of it.

Simply put, since we will be studying this in greater depth later, Jesus says not all will enter the KOH…right?

Those who will not enter KOH:

  1. you who act wickedly [disregarding My commands].
  2. everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not do them will be like a stupid (foolish) man who built his house upon the sand.
Those who will enter KOH:
  1. will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father Who is in heaven.
  2. So everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts upon them [obeying them] will be like a sensible (prudent, practical, wise) man who built his house upon the rock.
We like to make these stories Sunday school fodder but Jesus was quite serious. Eternity serious.

Matthew 7:28 When Jesus had finished these sayings [the Sermon on the Mount], the crowds were astonished and overwhelmed with bewildered wonder at His teaching,

29 For He was teaching as One Who had [and was] authority, and not as [did] the scribes.

I marvel at these words. I can imagine the quiet that fell over the crowds. The hush..then the murmur…the wide eyes…I also can imagine the little children clamoring to get on His lap. I sure would have wanted to sit on His lap. :)

Pray on, beloved. Pray on…

Perspective..

Good morning, beloved of God,

These last two days have been a bit “sludgey”. Drudgey. And as I reflect on the busyness of the last few days, more and more I see glimpses of God’s perfect care for me. Ashes. Coffee. Sitting quietly alone. Conversation with old friend. Food made: yogurt, dehydrated apples..Coming home last night in the snow storm..no problem. Getting to the doctor 1/2 hour late because of the snow..their response? only for you..God’s grace. Mercy. People responding to my pleas for prayer. His kindness.. Noah’s response to surgery? Okay, Mom.

My heart could handle so much more with this perspective. It’s a God perspective. It’s His strength. It’s His hope. It’s His Spirit. Last night, He gave me a book as well by Carol Kent.  And I was able to just laugh last night in the pitch black with only my cellphone flashlight and this book. She shared a Scripture that just blessed the socks off me. Allow me to share with you! Maybe this sounds a bit corny or strange but I think that when God wrote this Scripture through David‘s pen, He thought of the day when I would need to hear it.

Psalm 34

4I sought (inquired of) the Lord and required Him [of necessity and on the authority of His Word], and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.(A)

5They looked to Him and were radiant; their faces shall never blush for shame or be confused.

6This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.

7[a]The Angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him [who revere and worship Him with awe] and each of them He delivers.(B)

8O taste and see that the Lord [our God] is good! Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who trusts and takes refuge in Him.(C)

Did you need to hear that? Listen to His word! Every promise kept! Every need YOU’VE met! Faithful God!! I’m not going to beg God to remove my circumstances. He has me here for a reason and it’s GOOD!! Why? I’m not alone. Never alone. Each step is grace and hope. The darkness is dispelled and light pierces my heart.  Love that will not let me go.

And guess what? When I opened Biblegateway today, the verses were put there for me. Were they put there for you too? ;)

Jeremiah 29:10-14

10For thus says the Lord, When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will visit you and keep My good promise to you, causing you to return to this place.

11For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.

12Then you will call upon Me, and you will come and pray to Me, and I will hear and heed you.

13Then you will seek Me, inquire for, and require Me [as a vital necessity] and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.(A)

14I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will release you from captivity and gather you from all the nations and all the places to which I have driven you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back to the place from which I caused you to be carried away captive.

Pray on, friend. Pray on.
