A list…

Good morning, beloved,

A quiet morning, this morning is turning out to be. Everyone is  still. I like peaceful. Who doesn’t, right? After the last couple of days, a quiet start to our day is a very, very nice change. On Tuesday, Ella lay listless and curled in a ball. I did everything I could with her, and finally, after a sleepless night, we took her to the pediatrician. She had a bunch of tests done and it was determined that she had some inflammation in her appendix, a fever and her blood numbers were slightly elevated. So they wanted to observe her overnight in the hospital.  We began praying. That night, a surgeon came in to see her and looked at me, looked at my girl and said, this is not appendicitis. I was starting to wonder myself. She was hooked up to an IV and starting to perk up, starting to get color again. So we were released from the hospital that night. Pray is amazing. Life changing.

So, yesterday was one of those battling days for me which is strange considering how amazing the week was watching God heal my girl and the body of Christ come to our aid. As I battled, this picture was shared with me.

And I have to say, well timed, God. Well timed. :)

God's voice

God’s voice vs. Satan’s voice

Which got me to thinking about where this author got each of these bullet points..

And I decided I needed to update this for me.

God stills:

Psalm 46: God says, “Be still and know that I am God.
I will be ·praised [exalted] in all the nations;
I will be ·praised [exalted] throughout the earth.”

God leads:

2 Corinthians 2: 14 But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s victory ·parade [procession; C the image is of a victorious Roman general leading his army and his captives through the streets]. God uses us to spread ·his knowledge everywhere like a sweet-smelling perfume [L the aroma/fragrance of the knowledge of him; C incense or spices were burned during such victory parades].

Isaiah 48: 17 This is what the Lord, ·who saves you [your Redeemer],
the Holy One of Israel [1:4], says:
“I am the Lord your God,
who teaches you ·to do what is good [what is best; or how to succeed],
who leads you in the way you should go.

God reassures:

Okay, so I looked up the word reassures: Say or do something to remove the doubts and fears of someone. (www.dictionary.com) So, I began to look for ways God, in the Word, removes our doubts and fears. Paul reminds us in Romans 8:

37 But in all these things we are completely victorious through ·God [or Christ; L the One] who showed his love for us. 38 Yes, I am ·sure [convinced] that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor ·ruling spirits [or heavenly rulers; or demons; L rulers; T principalities], nothing ·now [in the present], nothing in the future, no ·powers [or spiritual powers/authorities], 39 ·nothing above us [or no powers in the sky], ·nothing below us [or nor powers in the depths], nor ·anything else in the whole world [any created thing] will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God enlightens:

Ephesians 1: 13 So it is with you. When you heard the ·true teaching [message/word of truth]—the ·Good News about [Gospel of] your salvation—you believed in Christ. ·And in Christ, God put his special mark of ownership on you by giving you [L …having been sealed with] the Holy Spirit that he had promised. 18 I pray also that ·you will have greater understanding in your heart [L the eyes of your heart may be enlightened] so you will ·know [comprehend] the hope to which he has called us and that you will know ·how rich and glorious are the blessings God has promised [the riches of his glorious inheritance for; or the glorious wealth of an inheritance that God possesses in] ·his holy people [T the saints].

God encourages:

1 John 4

17 This is how love ·is made perfect [is made complete; comes to full expression] ·in [or among] us: that we can ·be without fear [have boldness; have confidence; 2:28;3:215:14] on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like him [C probably referring to Christ, our example of love]. 18 ·Where God’s love is, there is no fear [L There is no fear in love], because ·God’s perfect love drives out fear [T perfect love casts out fear]. It is punishment that makes a person fear, so love is not made ·perfect [complete] in the person who fears [C fear of punishment, not an appropriate fear of God; compare Prov. 1:72 Cor. 7:15Phil. 2:12].

God comforts:

2 Corinthians 1: 3 ·Praise be to [Blessed is/be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father who is full of ·mercy [compassion] and all ·comfort [encouragement]. He ·comforts [encourages] us ·every time we have [L in all our] ·troubles [trials; tribulation], so when others have ·trouble [any trials/tribulation], we can ·comfort [encourage] them with the same ·comfort [encouragement] God gives us. [L For just as] ·We share in the many sufferings of Christ [L Christ’s sufferings abound in us]. In the same way, ·much comfort comes to us [L our comfort abounds] through Christ. If we have ·troubles [trials; tribulation], it is for your ·comfort [encouragement] and salvation, and if we ·have comfort [are encouraged], ·you also have comfort [or it is for your comfort/encouragement]. This helps you to accept patiently the same sufferings we have. Our hope for you is ·strong [unshaken; firm], knowing that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in the ·comfort [encouragement] we receive.

God calms:

2 Timothy 1:7 [L For] God did not give us ·a spirit [or the Spirit] that makes us ·afraid [timid] but ·a spirit [or the Spirit] of power and love and ·self-control[self-discipline; or good judgment].

God convicts:

Ummm…Psalm 51. Here’s a part:

God, be ·merciful [gracious] to me
·because you are loving [according to your love/loyalty].
·Because you are always ready to be merciful [According to your abundant compassion],
·wipe [blot] out all my ·wrongs [transgressions].
Wash ·away [L me thoroughly from] all my guilt
and make me clean ·again [L from my sin].

Of course, this is NOT an exhaustive list of each of these bullet points. I have no idea who wrote this list, however, I thank him/her for reminding us to be bold in recalling His word when we are in the battle. Test your thoughts. Make sure that you are hearing His word in your mind.

Prayers for your Pastor and his wife:

Pray that your pastor will love God with all his heart, soul, mind and strength. Pray that God’s Spirit will work in his heart in power and that he will value and follow biblical priorities. (Deut. 6:5; Matt. 6:33) Revive Our Hearts

My thankfuls:

Resembling redemption

Sunrise on the mountain Ruppberg near Zella-Mehlis (Thuringian Forest, Germany) photo by Rafael Brix

Good morning, beloved,

I think I might change my title picture to this! I cannot stop staring at it. The light cascades over the tree and even the areas not touched by the light are enlightened. Just gets me! Our morning does not look so spectacular this morning. I am reading a series named The Beyonders, well, I’m listening to it. I’ve finally appeased my eldest. I’m not sure why I waited so long but when the last book of the series is being released in March, I can say, um, that’s why! I abhor waiting for sequels to come. Anyway, this main character, Jason, has difficulty trusting a man who betrayed him once. Actually, the entire society distrusts this man and all like him. They are a disparaged, ridiculed, accosted people and they live up to each adjective. Except, maybe, this man might be different. Maybe Jason can trust him. (I’ve not finished the book so I’ve no idea here..)

When someone wrongs us, we can have such difficulty trusting them again. They probably don’t have the reputation of this man, but we can either forgive or not. I pondered that verse from 1 Corinthians 13 over and over. Love never fails. It is never reduced to inactivity. Just kept pondering that, and thankfully, I understand first, our Morning Star will never fade in His divine love for us. He will never fail us. Humans may fail, but God will never, ever fail us. Oh, what a promise that is for us!!

Then to have the verses of the day be:

[L For] The law says, “You must not be guilty of adultery. You must not murder anyone. You must not steal. You must not ·want to take your neighbor’s things [covet; Ex. 20:13–1517;

Blue Spruce Tree Snow Spring evergreen by ForestWander

Deut. 5:17–21].” All these commands and all others are really summed up in this one ·rule [command; word]: “Love your neighbor as you love yourself [Lev. 19:18].” 10 Love never ·hurts [does wrong/evil to] a neighbor, so loving is ·obeying all [fulfilling] the law.

11 Do this ·because you know the times in which we live [L knowing the time/season]. It is ·now [oralready the] ·time [hour] for you to wake up from your sleep, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. 12 The night [C a metaphor for the present evil age] is ·almost finished[advancing], and the day [C the time of final judgment and reward] is ·almost here [near; or at hand]. So we should ·stop doing [put aside; cast off] ·things that belong to [L the deeds/works of] darkness and ·take up the weapons [or put on the armor] ·used for fighting in [or that belong to; L of] the light.13 Let us ·live [walk] ·in a right way [properly; decently], like people who belong to the day.  Romans 13 EXB

This week’s AWANA brought store night. My daughter came home with huge smiles and happiness. Her brothers decided it was Ella night and bought her the most expensive thing at the store..this mega-pack of My Little Pet shop or whatever that name might be.

These boys were so excited to give her this gift. So excited by her response. I wished I had been there to see this gift exchange. They behaved as children of the light. Children of the day…not holding onto to past arguments, or frustrations. Instead they gave.

I can learn a while lot from this, and most honestly, so can my boys. This love they showed their sister, they could show each other. They could give each other grace as they so easily bestow on their sister.

I come back to this post after another crushing day. When I am hurt, wounded by others, my natural instinct is to attack. I want to wound as I have been wounded. The Spirit of God prevents me from this MOST of the time. Countless numbers of texts, emails and phone calls have never been made/sent as I hash it out, how do I show grace to others? Then to add to my stress, there was more. More worry. I realized something at the end of the day. I have to believe wholeheartedly in what type out on these pages. When fellowship fails, when circumstances threaten my world, I don’t like how far I seem to be from resembling Jesus in me. I cannot see that this is a stitch in the tapestry of my life. I walk around my neighborhood crying out for peace. For more of Him and less of me…

It comes back to remembering, Love never fails.

Love is patient and kind. Love is not ·jealous [envious], it does not brag, and it is not ·proud[arrogant; conceited; puffed up]. Love is not ·rude [disrespectful], is not ·selfish [self-serving], and ·does not get upset with others [is not easily provoked/angered]. Love does not ·count up [keep a record of] wrongs that have been done. Love ·takes no pleasure [does not rejoice] in ·evil[wrongdoing; injustice] but rejoices over the truth. Love ·patiently accepts all things [T bears all things; or always protects], ·always trusts [T believes all things], ·always hopes [T hopes all things], and ·always endures [T endures all things]. 1 Corinthians 13 EXB

I cannot love in my own flesh. I cannot trust in my own flesh but when I remember God asks me to love from His endless acceptance and love for me. I feel as though the Lord asks me the same questions as Jesus asked of Peter. This is redemption at it’s very finest.

15 When they finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” [C “These” probably refers to the other disciples (rather than the fishing gear), and could mean “Do you love me more than you love your friends?” or “Do you love me more than they love me?” The latter is more likely. This whole scene is the restoration of Peter after he had boasted of his loyalty to Jesus and then denied him.]

He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”

Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.”

16 Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”

He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”

Jesus said, “·Take care of [Tend; Shepherd] my sheep.”

17 A third time he said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”

Peter ·was hurt [grieved] because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” Peter said, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you!”

He said to him, “Feed my sheep. [C In verses 15 and 16 Jesus uses a different word for “love” (agapaō) than Peter uses (phileō); but then in v. 17 Jesus uses Peter’s word (phileō). The two terms can be synonymous, and the difference is probably stylistic. The passage is not contrasting two kinds of love; rather, Peter’s three affirmations counterbalance his three denials; see 18:15–1825–2718 ·I tell you the truth [L Truly, truly I say to you], when you were younger, you ·tied your own belt [dressed yourself] and went where you wanted. But when you are old, you will put out your hands and someone else will ·tie [dress] you and take you where you don’t want to go.” 19 (Jesus said this to ·show[indicate; signify] how Peter would die to ·give glory to [glorify] God.) Then Jesus said to Peter, “Follow me!”

God calls me to love Him first, then to follow in His steps to His calling on my life.

Pray for your pastor today:

Pray for spiritual unity in the church staff and among the spiritual leadership of the church (elders, deacons, etc.). Pray that the enemy will not be allowed to create divisions, strife, or misunderstanding among the church leaders. (Rom. 14:191 Cor. 12:25)

Pray for your pastor’s wife:

Pray for spiritual unity between the pastor’s wife and others in the church—especially other staff members’ wives. Pray that the enemy will
not be allowed to create divisions, strife, or misunderstanding in any way. (Rom. 14:191 Cor. 12:25) (Quotes from Revive Our Hearts)

My thankfuls:

Gifts of tin, wood, glass (Ann Voskamp, Joy Dare):

Catholic Church St. Branch. Cross (dread Chapel) by Florian Fuchs

Greetings, beloved,

The Lord be with you! I remember my early years in the episcopal church when the Priest would welcome us with:

  • Priest: The Lord be with you.
  • People: And with thy spirit.
  • Priest: Lift up your hearts.
  • People: We lift them up unto the Lord.
  • Priest: Let us give thanks unto the Lord our God. (or Let us give thanks unto our Lord God.)
  • People: It is meet and right so to do. (or It is meet and just.)

I love the blessing. I love the encouragement to praise and give thanks and do it corporately.

Well, the otolaryngologist probably had never seen the likes of me yesterday. We sat there dumbfounded as he explained I did not have Superior Canal Dehiscence as he supposed in our previous conversation. I dissolved like an Alka Seltzer tablet. In no way did I want to have a craniotomy, but the prospect of knowing! I left depressed and threw a major hissy fit. Ahem. This season has challenged but I knew there was a light, there was relief coming. By the end of the meeting, I was left with nothing. Or so I thought in the midst of my meltdown.

I thank God for my husband who just let me burn off my frustration. He just held my hand, nodded and squeezed my leg. Yet, after a fortifying Caramel and Cheese Popcorn and working through all my emotions, I knew the Lord had a plan. I needed to trust His plan. The rest of the day I could have hidden, yet the Spirit of the Most High was working, loving me back into His arms. Even when I was kicking and pounding and screaming..ahem.

It was an eye opener for my little guy who struggles with temper tantrums. We took our boy for a long walk and talked it through with him. I mentioned to him that one of us threw a fit and it wasn’t Daddy. He looked at me wide-eyed. I asked him if he thought Jesus would love me through and forgive me for heedless words. He looked at me and said, of course, Mommy. And Joshua turned the tables and said, so if your Mom can be forgiven and loved even before she committed any sin, why could God not love and forgive you continually?

He had a light come into His eyes. He finally understood a concept that we had tried to teach for such a long time. Forgiveness is not based on anything you can do in your strength. It is based on Jesus and His blood.

If nothing else was gained from yesterday, other than my boy understanding God’s love is lavished upon him, that he is forgiven and he is cleansed…it was a good day.

Today, I have understanding as well about the possibilities of my condition and what ails me. That is a relief. The doctor was guiding us to this and as I read up on this condition today, it just helps to know there will be an answer.

Pray on. Pray on.

The God of Angel Armies…

Fortress of the Îlette of Kermovan, Britanny (France) by Llorenzi

Good morning, beloved,

Around me, the wind is blowing. The trees are dancing, the sky is dark. Wind reminds me of His Spirit, His power and His work. All point to Creator God. Our God.

As I wait for appointments, wait to have a plan, I realize that it is very easy for me to place my trust in what I know. I know the diagnosis. I know. Yet, what do I really know? I make plans..when we get this money, then we can pay of this and that. When we…when they..what I am doing, friends, is placing my trust and hope in what I can do. What a doctor could do. I make a plan for how our family should run…yet, my God who faithfully supplies all that we need, has given me blessing in the form of my husband who has God’s blessing to guide this family. Me, me, me.  Trust, trust, trust.

Today I was reading the Word and came across some beautiful passages that speak to the importance of trust. Trust in the plan He has. The structure He has in place. The timeline He has for us. The resources He has in store.

“For it is by free grace (God’s unmerited favor) that you are saved (delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ’s salvation) through [your] faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [of your own doing, it came not through your own striving], but it is the gift of God; Not because of works [not the fulfillment of the Law’s demands], lest any man should boast. [It is not the result of what anyone can possibly do, so no one can pride himself in it or take glory to himself.]” Ephesians 2:8-9AMP

Friends, I am striving! I am working. I am not accepting the free gift of God by this. Oh, Father, cleanse my heart, give me a desire to trust fully in You.

I found this prayer:

O Lord,
we ask for a boundless confidence

On August 31, 2012 a long filament of solar material that had been hovering in the sun’s atmosphere, the corona, erupted out into space at 4:36 p.m. EDT. The coronal mass ejection, or CME, traveled at over 900 miles per second. The CME did not travel directly toward Earth, but did connect with Earth’s magnetic environment, or magnetosphere, causing aurora to appear on the night of Monday, September 3. Pictured here is a lighten blended version of the 304 and 171 angstrom wavelengths. Cropped NASA

and trust in Your divine mercy,
and the courage to accept
the crosses and sufferings
which bring immense goodness
to our souls and that of Your Church.
Help us to love You
with a pure and contrite heart,
and to humble ourselves beneath Your cross,
as we climb the mountain of holiness,
carrying our cross that leads to heavenly glory.
May we receive You
with great faith and love in Holy Communion,
and allow You to act in us as You desire
for your greater glory.
O Jesus, most adorable Heart
and eternal fountain of Divine Love,
may our prayer find favor before
the Divine Majesty of Your heavenly Father. St. Pio of  Pietrelcina

I love that image, as we climb the mountain of holiness. As we carry our cross, heavenly glory…behold the picture..our God made, He controls the heavens and the earth. Our God reigns!

My heart falls heavily for the people on the East Coast. My heart is heavy for our dear friends..the wife, my dear beloved friend, has been struggling desperately with liver cancer. She received more crushing news yesterday. So this is when faith must pour in. This is when prayers giving His Word back to Him become critical..

The God of Angel Armies is always by my side! My heart strengthens when I hear this song.  Whom shall I fear? Whom will you fear? You know who goes before us!!

Proverbs 3:

Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.

In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.

Isaiah 40:

31 But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.

Isaiah 41:

10 Fear not [there is nothing to fear], for I am with you; do not look around you in terror and be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen and harden you to difficulties, yes, I will help you; yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My [victorious] right hand of rightness and justice.

The God of Angel Armies is always by your side. Pray on. Pray on.
